Database Designer for PostgreSQL
Tablespace Manager | | Previous Next |
Tablespace Manager allows you to add, edit and delete Tablespaces within the diagram. To open
Tablespace Manager, select the Diagram | Tablespace Manager menu item.
Tablespace is a virtual object of a diagram and has no graphical representation. After defining a
Tablespace, it appears in the object editors, so that you could attach other diagram objects to it.
Tablespaces tab
Tablespace Manager contains a grid that represents Tablespaces available in the diagram and their
properties. The Tablespace properties you can change in the grid are as follows:
Tablespace name
The name of a Tablespace to be created. The name cannot begin with pg_, as such names are reserved
for system Tablespaces.
Tablespace path
The directory that will be used for the tablespace. The directory must be empty and must be owned by the
PostgreSQL system user. The directory must be specified by an absolute path name.
Owner
The name of the user who will own the tablespace. If omitted, defaults to the user executing the command.
Only superusers can create tablespaces, but they can assign ownership of tablespaces to non-superusers.
Generate
Set this option off to disable generation of the Tablespace during database generation.
The buttons below the list of Tablespaces allow you to perform the following actions:
- Add - add a new Tablespace with the default properties to the end of the list;
- Duplicate - add a new Tablespace with the same properties as the selected Tablespace to the
end of the list;
- Delete - remove the selected Tablespace from the list.
Preview tab
The Preview tab displays the SQL statement, which will be executed during the database
generation. This statement is made up according to the changes you have made using the previous tabs. Please, note
that the text within the editor is read-only. The content of this tab updates only when your press the
Apply button.
