Task Pane

The Task Pane at the right side of the window provides basic functions for starting your work in DBACentral, organizing profile links, and getting support on DBACentral for MySQL.

If Always Show Task Pane on Startup option within the Environment Options dialog is on, the Task Pane opens automatically on startup. Otherwise the Task Pane restores its state from the previous session.

The Task Pane is divided into three sub-panes. You can switch between them by clicking on the Task Pane caption.

The Getting Started pane contains the following item groups:

New - using items of this group you can create a new profile for working with existing database, create a new blank database, or create a new database by importing database structure and data from MS Access database, another MySQL database, or any ADO compatible database;
Open - this group contains up to four recently used profiles, allowing you to find and open these profiles quickly; besides, this group provides functions for loading the sample database and opening its profile (Euro2004 Sample Database), and browsing for other profiles on your computer (More... item);

The Quick Connection pane is intended for quicker connecting to MySQL databases. Type the server name or address into the edit box (or select its value from the drop-down recent list) and click the Connect button. Then specify your MySQL user name and password in the dialog window. This adds the selected server to the list below and opens the list of the server databases. Click on any of them to open. Afterwards you can simply double-click the server name in the list to retrieve its databases. To edit or remove servers use the popup-menu of the list.

The Profile Bookmarks pane is intended for organizing links to the selected profile files on your computer. Open a profile, then click the Add Profile to Bookmarks item. This saves the link to this profile irrespectively of the recent list. To organize link captions and groups, click the Bookmark Manager item.

The last pane allows you to jump to several help sections quickly and provides some functions for getting on-line support on DBACentral for MySQL.

To hide the Task Pane, select the Close Task Pane item from the caption menu or use the View | Task Pane main menu item.
