Restore Database Wizard

The Restore Database Wizard allows you to load a backup copy of MySQL database from the backup directory (*.frm and *.myd files) or from the SQL script to the server. To run the wizard select the Tools | Administration Tools | Restore Database main menu item.

The first step of the wizard allows you to select the restore type and source.

Select FRM/MYD Files to load a backup from a directory with table files at the server side. Select SQL Script to load the database from the SQL script, which contains a consecution of SQL statements.

It is highly recommended to execute "native" restore only on local server. Otherwise you have to specify the relative path and ensure that the path exists on the server machine.

The restore source should be either a directory at the server side containing database files or a file name of the database SQL script.

The next step allows you to select the destination MySQL database for executing restore.

The Restore to the current profile option is available only if you have active database profile opened and connected. Select this option to restore the backup tables into the profile database.

Select Restore to a new profile to define the connection properties for the destination database manually.

Sets MySQL server address.

Sets MySQL server port.

Sets MySQL server user login.

Sets MySQL server user password.

Selects database from the list of available on the server.

Check the Recreate database if exists option to drop the existing database with the selected name and create the new one before restoration. Check the Recreate Tables if Exist option to drop each table with the same name as of the table being restored during the process.

The following step is intended for selecting the restoration tables.

The Available Tables contains all tables from the source directory or SQL script. Move the tables to the Selected Tables list to include them into the restored database.

The final step of the wizard allows you to select the action to perform after the restoration and displays information about the process errors, if such occur.

Select Open the target profile to create a new profile for the created database and open it in the Profile Window. To close the wizard without any action after restoring the database, select the Take no action.

To start restoring with all the parameters you have set, click the Finish button.
