Form Wizard

The Form Wizard allows you to create profile forms in a fast and convenient way, guiding you step by step through the process of defining form structure, design, and options. To run the wizard double-click the Create new form by using wizard item within the Profile Window | Forms page.

The first step of the wizard allows you to set the form name, which identifies it within the profile.

The next step allows you to select tables and columns for generating the form controls.

Select the table name from the Tables drop-down list and move table columns from the Available Fields list to the Selected Fields. Note, that you can select fields from multiple tables.

At the third step of the Form Wizard you can adjust the graphical design of the new form in a most easy way.

The Style Sheet list box defines the main color scheme of the form, i.e. background and text colors of the main form elements. You can see a sample of the selected scheme at the lower right corner of the example image. The Layout box allows you to select the way of control positioning within the form. The Columnar and Tabular layouts align controls vertically and horizontally respectively. The Grouped layout aligns controls in groups according to the control tables. All changes to Style Sheet and Layout are immediately displayed on the example image.

With the next step of the wizard you can set additional form parameters.

The following properties are available for editing:

  • Master Table - the main table of the form, used for navigation, applying data modifications, and master-detail relations within the form;
  • Description - an optional description for the form, which you can see in the Detail view of the Profile Window | Forms page;
  • Allow Editing Data - if this option is off, then all form controls will be read-only, and no inserting will be available;
  • Allow Deleting Data - this option enables the Delete button in the form navigator bar.

The final step of the wizard allows you to select the action to perform after the creation and displays information about the creation errors, if such occur.

Select Open the form in design mode to open the Form Designer after the form is created. To view the data of the new form within the Form Data View, select Open the form for viewing/entering data. To close the wizard without any action after creating the form, select the Take no action item.

To create the form with all the parameters you have set, click the Finish button.
