Creating Database Profile

To start working with the database, you should open the existing profile or create a new one.

 

To create a new profile from the Getting Started Pane, follow these steps:

  1. Click Create a new profile in the Getting Started Pane. The Profile Editor appears.
  2. Set the connection and the authorization options, then select the database to create profile for in the Profile Editor.
  3. Click OK to create a profile.

 

To establish connection to a database quickly and create the database profile automatically from the Getting Started Pane, do the following:

  1. Type in the MySQL server address or host name into the Quick Connect field, and the click connect button (). The Host Login dialog appears.
  2. Type in your MySQL user name and password. Click OK to logon to the database.
  3. A new group with all databases available on the specified server appears in the bottom of the pane.
  4. Click on the database name you want connect to. The appropriate profile will be created and opened.

 

To create a new profile from the file menu, follow this steps:

  1. Select the File | New menu item. The Profile Editor will appear.
  2. Set the connection and the authorization options, then select the database to create profile for in the Profile Editor.
  3. Click OK to create a profile.

 

You can also create new profiles along with creating a new database via the Create Database Wizard, Restore Database Wizard, or Import Database Wizard.
